Beyond Tourism: The Real Pillars of Kashmir’s Economy

Kashmir’s Real Economic Strength
Kashmir is rich in resources:
Water Resources
Minerals
Fertile Lands
Horticulture (fruits and orchards)
Apiculture (beekeeping)
Aquaculture (fish farming)
Floriculture (flower farming)
These sectors make up nearly 90% of Kashmir’s economy. In fact, Kashmir’s horticulture alone is enough to supply the needs of many Indian states.

First of all, we Kashmiris denounce the recent attack on tourists.
In this background, the majority of the individuals in India, particularly media establishments publish propaganda news to malign and defame the peace-loving and friendly individuals of J& K. The Majority of the individuals in India, particularly Govt officials believe that the Kashmir economy is managed by TOURISM INDUSTRY. Predominantly individuals in O dia assert if we do not go to Kashmir they will be bankrupt. This is the impression that l get from. Last few days. But in actuality, this is not true. Kashmir has immense tourism potential if the tourism sector is that they believe controls the homes of Kashmir. They are mistaken. Though the tourist sector is large in Kashmir it has wide-ranging and devastating impacts on Kashmir that we have started experiencing in the past decade.
Through the massive influx of local and international tourists, the ecosystem of Kashmir has been disrupted. India’s pilgrimage tourism although we are embracing but has ravaged our natural resources like FORESTS, GLACIERS & RIVERS. This intern has enormous impact on the ecological imbalance in Kashmir. This has disturbed first the river food chains, and forest food chains which have potentially catastrophic effects that to date Kashmiris are unaware of.

Reality Check: Tourism Is Not Kashmir’s Backbone

Shortly I’m of the view that even though tourism operates 10% of Kashmir’s economy there is a potential threat to Kashmir’s ecology and environment which can extinct the Kashmiri gene pool. So believing Kashmir operates on Tourism and they are begging for tourists is far away from reality.
Apart from tourism Kashmir has been blessed by Allah with enormous resources such as water, minerals, fertile land masses, Horticulture, Apiculture, Aquaculture, and floriculture.
All these resources contribute to nearly 90% of Kashmir’s economy. Horticulture alone can feed all Indian states forget about other resources. So the essence of this write-up is that Kashmiri houses are not operated by Tourism, though very little, but anyone can’t finger-point on Kashmir that if tourists don’t visit here we will perish if have no money in our pockets. All those who have such a mindset need to rethink and reeducate themselves.
