Pahalgam, June 14: In a significant move to revive tourism in the valley, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced the reopening of eight popular tourist destinations in Kashmir.

“As a precautionary measure, a few tourist spots were closed following the April 22 terror attack,” LG Sinha told reporters in South Kashmir, according to Kashmir News Observer (KNO). “Following an evaluation of the circumstances, it was determined that the shuttered tourist locations will be gradually reopened.”

The Lieutenant Governor revealed that Betab Valley, Verinag, Kokernag, and Achabal gardens in the Pahalgam market area of Anantnag district would be the first to reopen.

He also mentioned that Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal and Duck Park in Badamwari, Srinagar, are slated for reopening soon.

LG Sinha expressed hope that the upcoming Amarnath Yatra would further boost tourism in the region. He encouraged locals and authorities to contribute to the success of the pilgrimage.

“This Yatra is yours. It will boost your economy and boost travel,” he said.
