The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has published the official Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025 notification to fill 14,582 positions in Group B and Group C across several central government ministries, divisions, and organizations.


The online application procedure opened on June 9, 2025, and will remain open until July 4, 2025. Candidates may apply if they have a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications (as of August 1, 2025):


Qualifications for Education:


  • A bachelor’s degree in any field is required to work as an assistant audit officer or assistant accounts officer. CA/CMA/CS/M.Com/MBA (Finance) is preferred.

  • A degree with statistics as a topic or a minimum of 60% in mathematics at the 12th-grade level are prerequisites for becoming a junior statistical officer (JSO).

  • Statistical Investigator Grade II: Statistics is one of the subjects of a graduate degree.

  • Research Assistant (NHRC): One year of research experience and a graduate degree are required.

  • A bachelor’s degree in any field is required for other posts.


Age Restrictions (by Post):


  • Positions at Level 4 (such as Postal Assistant and Tax Assistant): 18–27 years

  • Level 5 positions (such as accountant and auditor): 18–27 years

  • Positions at Level 6 (such as ASO and Sub Inspector): 18–30 years

  • Positions at Level 7 (such as AEO and Income Tax Inspector): 18–30 years

  • 18–32 years old as a junior statistical officer


According to government regulations, there is an age relaxation.


Levels of Pay:


  • Level of Pay 4: ₹25,500 to ₹81,100

  • Level of Pay 5: ₹29,200 to ₹92,300

  • Level of Pay 6: ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400

  • Level of Pay 7: ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400


Extra benefits include DA, TA, HRA, and other allowances by central government regulations.



Application Cost:


  • OBC and General: ₹100

  • Women, SC, ST, PwBD, and ESM: Exempt

  • Online payment methods: UPI, Net Banking, and debit/credit cards


Method of Selection:


  • Tier I: Computer-Based Test (just for qualifying)

  • Tier-II: Final Selection Computer-Based Exam

  • Paper I: Required for every position

  • Paper II: Only for candidates seeking to become junior statistical officers

  • Final merit determined by document verification and Tier-II
